NOTE: In some cases, a firmware update is required to use the Scratch Banks feature, so please ensure you have the latest, respective firmware for your mixer installed. It’s a shame that it doesn’t ship with a full license for Serato DJ Pro; however, I believe that the Serato DJ Lite software is one of the best for beginner DJs. Rekordbox isn’t supported on the Numark NS4FX. Therefore, if you think you would like to end up on CDJs in a club, then it makes sense to get the FLX6 and get used to the Rekordbox eco-system. We’d like to have seen LFO high pass / low pass filters implemented on the fixed six effects, as the ones they’ve chosen don’t make much sense when you already have “manual” filter controls on every channel. Plus, the metering is poor (no per-channel metering, or way of switching the master meters to per-channel). The FLX6 is labelled primarily for Rekordbox, so it can get confusing when switching between pad modes on Serato DJ Pro. The Numark NS4FX comes with Serato DJ Lite software, allowing DJs to start mixing with 2 channels right away. Since the NS4FX is fully mapped and ready for Serato DJ Pro, DJs can upgrade to a full-featured, 4-channel mixing experience whenever they'd like!

The main competitor for the Numark is the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6. Here are some key things to consider before purchasing one over the other. It’s also perfect for live streaming setups as the sound from the microphone gets mixed with the master output and passed along the USB cable to your computer. Therefore you won’t need any external soundcards to be able to live stream with a microphone from this controller, something other controllers of this price don’t offer. The Numark NS4FX wins this round, hands down. The FLX6 only has an unbalanced RCA master out and doesn’t send the microphone through the USB for live streaming.
